Taste York and support local business on Thursday at the Shambles Market!
A new weekly event has been announced for the Shambles Market which hopes to inspire York’s residents to support local food businesses.
Samples and freebies will be on offer at the ‘Taste York’ launch next Thursday 14 July; the event will then take place every Thursday from 9am to 5pm in the ‘Newgate’ section of the Shambles marketplace. (The area by the Shambles Tavern.)
The Newgate area will be solely limited to food traders looking to offer a local alternative to the weekly supermarket shop, where shoppers can buy quality food for the family, and get to know the people behind the produce.
Traders will include favourites such as Roy Dean – That Cookies and Fudge Guy, who specailises in a range of home made fudges, with flavours such as salted caramel, chili chocolate and rum and raisin
If every adult in York spent just £5 a week in local businesses, instead of online or in the supermarket, it would be worth more than £40m a year going back into our local economy!
