Over the last three months, the team has had the hard but enviable job of heading back to their homeland to source and sample products to place onto the new menu. The result of which brings fine Italian items such as Caciotta Alle Olive (A smooth, sweet Italian cheese made from sheep’s and cow’s milk enriched with diced olives) and Pancetta Steccata (a sweet tasting Pancetta, which is cut into squares, folded like a book and “imprisoned” in a press, usually two chestnut or birch sticks, held together by an elastic cord so as the two parts fit tightly together).
These and an array of quality products are included in a number of new products including the Tradizione platter (What Andrea described as Italy on a platter, a taste of Italy’s most popular exports including Parmigiano, Mozzarella Buffalo, Parma Ham & Bresaola) and their Signature Panini selection including the delicious Siena (A Pan Rustico Panini, Finocchiona, Pecorino Primosale and Rocket salad. Garnished with balsamic vinegar glaze and family produced olive oil from Sicily).
Speaking to co-founder Nino Caruso, he said “We are incredibly lucky to have such close relationships with small-scale Italian suppliers who source some incredible items for us! When we set out in Manchester nearly three years ago, we had no idea just how successful the Aperitivo culture would be in the UK.”
“Our customers love the freshness and variety of products we have on offer in Veeno and we can’t wait to roll the concept out in more locations this year!”
The highlight of the menu is the addition of another DIY wine tasting to their already popular range, The Blind Wine Tasting. Adding a competitive edge to the normally relaxed and informal wine tasting currently on offer, teams will work together to identify the mystery wines and pair them to the tasting notes provided. The blind wine tasting is perfect for 2 to 60 people with the winning team receiving a suitably veenoy prize.
Alongside the new food and wine tastings, Veeno ran an internal incentive to allow their teams to come up with a series of wine cocktails to accompany the new menu and following some incredible creativity have come up with a selection including the Romantica “A blend of Syrah Rose, Cognac, Orange Juice and Limonata.”
Veeno is inviting customers to come along to Veeno, 7 Piccadilly, York, on Tuesday 10th May to sample a selection of the latest offering by signing up to the guestlist at www.theveenocompany.com.
